Terre Haute, IN — Thompson Thrift Construction recently received one of the top honors at the 20th Annual Associated Builders and Contractors Indiana Merit Shop Construction Awards Ceremony. The company was presented with the Award of Excellence in the Industrial $2-$10 million category for the Clabber Girl Manufacturing Project.
ABC of Indiana annually sponsors the Excellence in Construction award program, which recognizes the quality and diversity of Merit Shop construction in Indiana. This year, a panel of judges, consisting of a cross-section of the construction industry, evaluated each entry on constructability, uniqueness and project significance.
As one of the oldest American food brands still in use, Clabber Girl has manufactured its food and baking products for more than 150 years at the company's headquarters in Terre Haute. For the past 80 years, Clabber Girl has operated in the same facility. However, due to a new and expanding product line, the company had severely outgrown its factory. To accommodate Clabber Girl's increasing production volume, Thompson Thrift designed and built a new manufacturing plant and office area.
Finished in 12 months, the 69,804-square-foot facility includes 8,000 square feet of offices, men's and women's locker rooms, a shipping and receiving vestibule, lobby, state-of-the-art test kitchen, containment area and four receiving and six shipping docks. The new plant enhances the current facility by adding a fully automated production line giving Clabber Girl the ability for continued growth and development.
